Camellia Sasanqua "Star Above Star" is a lovely upright growing Camellia that has large semi-double white flowers shading to lavender with pink edges which appear in Autumn through to Winter.
It likes morning sun only with shade in the afternoon in well-drained soil.
Star Above Star requires regular watering until established, then is drought tolerant.
This lovely Camellia can be a feature in a decorative pot, used as scattered plants or trained for a topiary or an espaliered display. This Camellia can also be clipped to form a hedge or screen to cover fences etc.
A charming way of using the flowers is placing them in a water bowl or birdbath.
Planting: Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so that soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in even if the soil is moist.
Care: Always ensure regular watering is provided for your new plants. The plants may need watering for around 12 weeks or until they are established depending on time of year and weather conditions once planted.
Good mulching will assist to reduce weeds and maintain moisture levels. Maintain fresh growth, shape and promote dense habit by pruning after main flowering time. Feed in early Spring with a good Camellia food fertilizer.
